Take on an exciting Leh Ladakh cycling tour in Leh and its surrounding areas. Our 6 Nights 7 Days Leh Alchi Cycling Tour will take you to Stok Palace, Hemis Monastery, Lamayuru, and River Indus, and indulge in delicious Ladakhi food.
Arrive in Leh today. You will be met at the airport by our representative and taken to your hotel. Local sightseeing available at extra cost.
After breakfast we cycle to Stok Palace that was the official residence of the royal family of Ladakh. We continue to ride on the left bank of the Indus to Spituk Monastery known for its vast collection of Buddhist artifacts. Further up we visit the Mahakal Temple from where we do road transfer to Leh. Cycling 35-40 KM.
You should be well acclimatized by today, so we venture out for a longer ride to some of the monasteries around Leh. The monasteries you will visit today are Shey, Thiksey and Hemis. Cycling 45 KM.
Today we will enjoy rafting on River Indus. Afterwards, we will cycle to Alchi Monastery, one of the oldest in Ladakh and the only one in the region located on flat ground instead of a hill-top. It is famous for its magnificent and well-preserved 11th and 12th century wall paintings. Cycling 60 KM.
We cycle to Lamayuru for a day trip. Spectacularly set on a steep mountain and founded in the 10th century, Lamayuru Monastery is the oldest spiritual centre of Ladakh. Post a picnic lunch we do a road transfer back to Alchi. Cycling 60 KM.
Cycle the short distance to Ridzong Gompa. Founded by Lama Tsultim Nima in 1831, it belongs to Gelukpa Order. The monastery serves as the residence of approximately 40 monks and also houses a nunnery comprising of about 20 nuns. We do a road transfer or cycle back to Leh. Cycling 60 KM.
Today is the last day. Get an assisted transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
